CLEARWATER, FL, MARCH 6, 2017 – Big Storm Brewing Co continues to be recognized for its quality handcrafted beers, winning two more medals at this year’s annual Best Florida Beer Championships.

This is the fifth consecutive year Big Storm has won medals in this competition and been recognized for creating several of the best beers in Florida. Big Storm’s Kumquat Radler was honored with a bronze medal in the Light Hybrid Beer category and their Arcus IPA won a bronze medal in the Euro and International Beer category.

“It’s humbling to be recognized by your peers for doing something that you love,” said Big Storm founder Mike Bishop. “I think the awards reflect the passion, care and commitment the entire Big Storm team puts into our craft beers.”  Over the past five years, Big Storm has now won 13 medals, including last year’s coveted Best of Show for its Oktoberfest Märzen Lager.

Big Storm’s Kumquat Radler is described as an effervescent sip of Florida sunshine.  Originally brewed for January’s Annual Kumquat Festival in Dade City, it is sourced with local, whole kumquat puree. Kumquat Radler is 4.8%ABV and a refreshing beer with soft sweet malt and bright citrus in the finish. Arcus IPA is a hoppy, vibrant beer that is brewed with two-row American pale ale malts.  Sourced with locally made “Queen Kathleen” wildflower honey, the ingredients lend a subtle sweetness for a clean and easy finish to the 6.2% ABV IPA.

The annual Best Florida Beer Championships is a competition pitting the best brewers in the Sunshine State against each other. This year more than 800 beers were submitted for judging.
